It appears that Notre Dame football could be expecting some important 2027 recruiting news in the near future, and it’s a big one.

Notre Dame football is coming off a very important recruiting weekend for the Blue-Gold Game. Head coach Marcus Freeman and the Fighting Irish have a ton of momentum with their 2027 class right now. There should be even more good news on the horizon.

While he wasn’t in South Bend this past weekend, 2027 Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas star wide receiver Julius Jones Jr. is an extremely important player for this Notre Dame class. With a commitment date set for June 27, Freeman and Co. are pushing hard to get this one done down the stretch. Notre Dame has always been the leader for Jones, but Oregon has been trying to give them a run for their money.

Confidence is growing, however, for the Irish to get this one done in the end. Kyle Kelly from Blue and Gold logged a prediction for Jones to land with the Irish. I very much agree with Kelly on this pick, and I wouldn’t be shocked to see Notre Dame get this one done ahead of time.

Julius Jones Jr.'s recruiting background

Jones is considered an outstanding recruit by the 247Sports Composite ranking. He sits as the No. 71 overall player, the No. 12 wide receiver, and the No. 8 player in the state of Florida for the 2027 recruiting class. We are talking about a potentially elite player from a hotbed of talent, and a legacy player to make things even better.
